One has to stop and wonder if the search kids always had it in the backs of their minds that their algorithm hacks would one day lead to the demise of incumbent operators' and top-tier software manufacturers' business models. It was only an hour ago that I received a call from someone asking if Google Docs was a suitable replacement for the Microsoft Office suite of server-based wares. Yesterday it was whether another three-year centrex contract made any sense. The consensus from those with whom I'd chatted in the form of a Google doc and accompanying cost analysis presented in a Google Spreadsheet, suggested not.

Very good news for videophiles. On the other hand many viewers will find that their PC isn't up to displaying HD content. My 2-year-old mid-range dual-core Dell, for instance, isn't. Time to upgrade to a Core i7/DirectX 10 machine eventually...
