I know people who have had dell laptops for years, unlike me who kills them quick. I sit with mine in my lap as well, with me it's my neck that keeps me out of a desk chair. I think I've let them heat up too much. when I have a laptop again, I need to see about one of the lap things you use. right now I have the desktop on the floor with the monitor on a table the heighth of my bed, and the keyboard & mouse on bed with me. it's a daybed thingie so I sit up on it. the setup would not work so well in a recliner.
