we have just discovered the crux of our differing views on what could, should and will be. history as an unending and inexorable story with the same chapters arranged in inevitable loops, containing fractally-scaled sub-plots describing the same sort of actions, motivations, and by and large happenings over and over again, all over the world at all times, vs history as a story with new new happenings leading to an end state.
