Ever hear of TI, Compaq, Dell? In case you don't know, the energy industry is also pretty high tech nowadays and that hasn't developed in CA or WA.

A drop in the bucket.....TX has over 20 million people. WA state has 5 million....and there is a hell of lot more new hi tech companies of size in WA state than in TX.

I doubt that. You seem to have a unusual definition of tech anyway. High tech in the energy industry wouldn't qualify but Costco and Whole Foods seems to. "Tech" seems to be code for things liberals think are cool.

As for the energy industry, what major companies has it spawned in the last ten years?

Well within the past decade the energy industry has spawned a shale gas industry based on directional drilling and hydraulic fracturing technology. Lots of companies in and servicing the industry. Now the technology is heading overseas to Europe, Canada and elsewhere.

The more hi tech NC becomes the less southern it is.

Wow, now thats high tech, they're actually moving the state now. Funny.

See thats an example, when you find high tech in the south, just call it non-southern.

Why do you think NC went purple in 2008 for the first time?

Same as loads of other places .... partially higher black turnout, people wanting "change", an uninspiring boneheaded Republican Presidential candidate who suspended his campaign during a key period before the election ......
