He said he was passing through Brazil on his way back to London. Brazilian police said he did not have the required authorisation and could face six months to a year in prison. It was initially thought he could be fined up to £1.39m but police later confirmed the fine had been set at £452,136. > They don't want the hassle of keeping him in prison, so they say, "How much money have you got? Okay, we'll fine you that much". If they fined him the millions, he wouldn't be able to pay so they would have a prisoner but no loot. That's not as much fun as getting loot. So they adjust the "fine" to how much they think they can frighten their victim into paying. When I enter NZ and they ask on their form "Have you anything which might be illegal, I answer yes". They make stupid laws and then ask stupid questions. When they ask me what, I explain that in NZ everything is illegal or might be, depending on the whim of authorities so all in my possession and about my person might be illegal and we should go through it all to see what has been planted and what is simply illegal and whether anything I have can legally be imported. I explain that they have annoyed me on several occasions so now we must be very pedantic about their laws to ensure that everything is hunky dory as we wouldn't want to make any mistakes and neither would they, ending up spending days in court. Authoritarians love airports and aircraft because they have got swarms of people cornered and can easily threaten them and make life difficult. The USA TSA people swagger and harass to the extent that people around the world avoid the USA. Airport authorities in other countries are not as totalitarian but still enjoy swinging their weight around. The USA authorities harass obviously totally innocent people with nail clippers at airports but then provided weaponry to an Islamic Jihadist in Fort Hood who murdered and maimed many - as he more or less said he would do for years before he did it. The Glasgow customers officers have now got a good supply of cocaine for themselves and their friends. NZ customs officers were caught and convicted for smuggling drugs into New Zealand - while on duty. Obviously, they get a job at customs and then cuzzy bros sail past unimpeded but they stop me to keep their "people harassed" score up to standard. Mqurice
