Yes, that's the big risk: rising interest rates. About which they say it's "when" not "if".

May adversely affect all stocks, not just bonds or dividend-rich stocks.

It's global, so maybe not so much affected by rising USA interest rates. Otoh, if dollar becomes stronger by the interest rate rise, then maybe foreign dividends won't be worth as much upon exchange.

All this makes my head spin. -g-

Heavy Call volume on the NYB December $12 Calls. Close to 9,000 contracts traded. Heavy activity on the December $13 Calls too. January 2010 Call option activity is quite active.

Rumor has it that the company is looking to acquire a bank through the FDIC at a "value" price.

Astoria Financial Corporation (AF) finance.yahoo.com was one of the names but it is all just speculation at this point.
