cboothe,

If you limit the trading password to one key, it speeds up entry. I agree that order input speed is the area I would like to see improved. That's the main reason I only do a small part of my trading with them. I'd like to see an order screen without confirmation or quote. Less than 10 second executions are great, but if it takes 30 seconds or more to confirm your order, 10 seconds has turned into 40 seconds.

Maybe being rated #1 for hyperactive traders will make them sensitive to improving order entry speed, if they want to keep the rating. However, I think Datek is the only brokerage to offer this feature so far. We hyperactive traders can do a lot of trading with the right system. I'll bet Datek's express order server handles a big percentage of their volume.

Over all, do you like the the trading pit environment, besides the detailed quote problems?

E

I had disappointing results trading with Web Street today. I attempted to sell shares of a stock on the bid, but 30 seconds after placing my order, the MM on the bid pulled his bid, leaving me unfilled. There were no trades at that price, and the volume of trading on the stock was not unusual. So either the MM backed away (illegal) or Web Street didn't get my order to him in time. Less than the 10 second executions on most market orders that they advertise. I would hope this would include marketable limit orders.

In addition I place several non marketable limit orders throughout the last two days and have received representation only after several minutes elapsed, and in one case never did receive representation, even after cancelling and renetering.

On the positive side, the Order Status button worked well today. I got no Web Street sever errors today.
