We had a corporal in our barracks from Louisiana. He had a buddy drop in occasionally from elsewhere on the base. We knew him as "Chuck". He'd sit down and play a game of chess with us, or just shoot the bull. He and the corporal would leave to go into town. On day he came in... in uniform. A decorated Marine Corps Major! That was the end of anyone calling him Chuck!
