They have stylistic differences but I see strong parallels in their conservative religious populism. WJB was a socially-conservative populist and anti-Darwinist known as "The Great Commoner." He was also the prosecutor (opposite defense attorney Clarence Darrow) in the famous Scopes Trial, in which the State of Tennessee tried to enforce a law against teaching evolution in public schools.

>>The pros still seem to be in awe of Palin. As a pretty much straight party ticket yellow dog Democrat, I'd say please don't nominate Sarah, in pretty much the way that of Br'er Rabbit begged not to be thrown in the briar patch.<<

Win -

I think you're onto something there. We who would like to see Obama get a second term should start talking about how afraid we are of a Sarah Palin candidacy. We should try to be as convincing as possible. ;-)

Palin has a consistent and documented problem; if she tries to speak in anything longer than a sound bite, like a complete coherent paragraph, she can't seem to connect what she says at the beginning very well with where she ends up.

Good thing she wasn't victimized by one of those elitist East Coast higher education thingies.

I actually think Bachmann might turn out to be a better fit for Republicans on a National ticket. A thinking Conservative's Palin.
