You must be related to a teacher. I say this because I saw no defense for the lawyers - lol

LOL - You got me there- I had a harder time not agreeing to disparage lawyers as a whole group.

I am not a teacher and have no relatives that are teachers. Did serve on school board for 4 years and it was there that I came to admire the many teachers dedicated to their profession. That plus remembering the many that positively affected my life and those of my kids.

I do understand the frustrations with the teachers unions though. As with most unions, the concept is good in that it is designed to represent the workers to ensure reasonable pay, working hours, protection etc. And they have succeeded in taking teachers from being underpaid as a whole to being well paid.( I think teachers should be well paid)

It is the implementation of the unions that go bad - when they featherbed jobs, limit work, engage in gangster type tactics and corruption, I would even say strike in many cases, that they work against the worker that they are designed to help.

Coming from Pittsburgh (Go Steelers!) I saw first hand how unions have participated in the destruction of the industrial base. Later working in NYC where unionization was required, I saw how prices for work skyrocketed (to the detriment of the taxpayers) and jobs took way longer than they should have. I saw unions squabbling for jurisdiction and iron workers putting carpenters in the hospital. I saw work quotas that could be accomplished in about 3 hours, which merited a full days pay. I could go on and on. Anyways Cheers!

Regards

Neil
