we picked Karzai. well, the bush folks did. rather than go with what the Afghanis wanted, we forced him in. we helped make the mess. I think it is only reasonable and proper to help clean it up. and on that we differ... I do think it is possible. hardly simple or easy, but possible. asides from Obama, I have a lot of faith in Gates and Hillary. this: Iranians are more like Americans than many think. On that we very much agree. My father worked for ARCO (when it was ARCO) and spent a lot of time there in 70's, up until the revolution. and then he spent years into his retirement working on the settlement with the Iranians over the oil biz. anyways... had many people at our table from there. and he loved his visits there. I'd support them over the Saudis and wahhabi stuff any day. plus they write great poetry. and epics. annoys me we have this spitting contest between us. and yet support the wahhabi Saudis up the ying yang.
