"the GOP was so obviously bought and paid for by the oil industry" I'd take it much farther than that. The GOP is bought and paid for by corporate America in general. So are the (D)'s, but not nearly as blatantly. The (R)'s have a TRADITION of it, ever since Calvin Coolidge said "The business of America is business!" The (R)'s use these idiotic social issues - "Look - we're banning abortion! look, we're outlawing gay marriage!" as cover as they sell us out to corporate interests. No war since WWII has been fought in OUR name - it's for our corporations.
