It's magical just reading about it.

That beats the pod of orcas that I saw from my boat out of Juneau. They were fishing for salmon. I could have thrown a sinker at one and hit it, they were so close. They did not look at me, for which I am grateful. I've seen movies of them scarfing up sea lions off the beach.

Very beautiful. Very moving.

Another magical experience I had was in a place called Boat Harbor about 25 miles north of Juneau. It's a tidal lake with a sort of river that flows out to the channel in opposite directions according to the tide. It was loaded with jellyfish. I could look right down at them and see how the pulsed their way about.

The magical times seem to remain in my mind more than the many hours of sweating over boat maintenance and repair bills.

I keep rereading this and... it's like I'm there. and I can see you there, and the sea beings, and smell the ocean air and feel it on my skin...

thank you.

Lynne just finished "The Bottom of the Sky."

Her comment: "It's a phenomenal book for a first author."

We were followed by a wayward Albatross for hundred of miles one time on a journey. He disappeared after the 5th day, and I missed him. Was eating the garbage we threw over. Guess he didn't like the left overs anymore?
