There are no data to prove the US has the best system. But easy analysis will demonstrate that the ranking should be higher than it is.

It's so easy to buy that. We are, after all, all Americans. So we look at the data and say "no, that can't be right, and here are the reasons...".

Everybody here is MORE THAN ready to put the prejudice of the researchers into the equation. But nobody seems willing to put their own prejudice into the same equation.

Whatever... I'm sure we are all completely objective and no one here has even a little prejudice when it comes to data </sarcasm>.

It isn't a shortage of data -- there probably isn't a field more loaded with statistics than the medical field. The problem is one of selecting appropriate criteria, which nobody really agrees on.

One could, however, define the criteria in a way that is more rational that the WHO study, without a doubt. Or, one could define "best health care in the world" to be cheapest, and we would be way down near the bottom.

If you want to look at legitimate considerations -- such as availability of facilities, medical outcomes, treatment options, personnel, medical transportation, etc. -- those things that really reflect health care quality, the US is going to be right up near the top.
