Set their salaries at $1 per year unless the budget is balanced. Last summer when the thread was discussing the merits of the GOP candidates for president I remember writing that our issue as voters wasn't about McCain, Romney, Huckabee getting elected etc, but about who was in "the gang of the 535" sitting in those six buildings in D.C. We are facing the same issue, many times magnified, in 2010. Will the american voter finally do what is necessary and discard a majority of those up for reelection? Some will be tossed, but not nearly enough. Any congressional office holder with ties to the listed and 'unlisted' federal lobbyists should be given their pink slip. This is the ONLY way to get back to "government of the people, by the people and for the people". I dream...........
