But the problem is the documents come from many different sources with little in the way of standards. So, then, right now the place to start is with the standards. Then the edge doesn't bleed as much. Right now, the big advantage cited is "we don't lose charts anymore". How about the time spent flipping through the patient's folder and not finding the key information or taking forever to find it. I saw my doctor yesterday so that experience is fresh in my mind. I had to keep reminding her of this or that from my history because she was retracing old ground and ignoring factors already handled. Waste of time and money. I hesitate to think of what happens with some of her patients who are too dumb or passive or dotty to participate. (She's a gerontologist.)
