My advice was to those who are itching to buy more or to enter the stock, not to those who have been long.
Why do you say the sector has been in a slump for 9 Months?
After March's fiasco this year, the sector reversed up from the 26% level and rose to 62% before reversing down in this months decline. That is a nice rise. The last time this sector enjoyed such a ride was in '96 when it rose in July from the 22% level to the 58% level before reversing. My point is if you are going to pick a stock, be objective. If I put 3 charts in front of you right now and said " Mr Style pts., here are three charts of nameless companies, pick the one you think will best succeed." You wouldn't have picked Ascend. It has been underperforming desperately since March of this year. In fact the Relative strength weakened through April, gave a brief go at it in May and then fell crashing down and gave a sell signal through to this month. In comparison, (I'm just picking one I have no preference) Cisco's relative strength dipped slightly in March but rebounded in May and is at an all time high. If I showed you those two relative strength charts you wouldn't have picked Ascend. Supply and Demand. Right now Supply is in control. I hope it does firm up I wouldn't want anyone to be disappointed. Fundamentals and technicals should always be considered. If Ascend reversed up now and gave a buy signal (instead of the 6 consecutive sell signals that it has) at 31, I might consider it for an aggressive bottom fish play and buy some deep in the money calls on it, IF and it is a big IF, the sector has firmed up.
Best wishes to you, truly.
