That must have been something, seeing a capsized boat and actually being able to save someone's life. While you were sick, no less.

Isn't it strange how help arrives almost like God is looking out for us?

I have no experiences quite like that.

The closest thing was when I was a kid hunting in the mountains in Montana I stumbled against a deadfall and drove a half inch thick broken stub of a branch about an inch into my left shin. It broke off in there, and I couldn't get it out.

I just sat there wondering what in the heck to do when a guy comes up and finds me.

He poked around a little and finally was able to pull it out with a fingernail clipper, if you can believe it. He put a bandage from my first aid kit on it and went on his way.

I walked out to our rig and met up with my party. Later, my Mom took me to the emergency room to double check on things.

Turns out the guy who extracted the broken wooden branch was a doctor. I never saw him again.

That's the worst I've ever been hurt in the woods. I'm just too careful to get hurt very often.
