>>IMHO, Cogito, that is your pejorative view of the matter--if by inventing facts you are referring to the radio interviews you previously cited (very interesting those). If so, one has to remember that that is the "norm" for millions of Christian evangelical/family value types.

How non-functioning can a mother of 4, attorney, congresswomen be (who is still fulfilling those roles)?<<

First, I haven't said that she is clinically insane or psychotic. That's not what the term "nutjob" means to me. To me, a nutjob is simply a person who maintains ideas that are not based in objective reality.

The point you seem to keep missing is that I am making a distinction between two things. The first is her opposition to gay marriage, which is certainly the norm within her cultural milieu, and not evidence of any kind of nuttiness.

The second is her complete invention of the idea that if gays are allowed to marry, suddenly the schools will start teaching kindergartners about the joys of homosexual sex. There is simply no factual foundation on which to base that notion. Thus, there's no reason, if one is operating within the bounds of reality, to get all worked up about it.

I would submit that there are millions of evangelical Christians who are opposed to gay marriage, but who don't believe that allowing it would automatically alter school curricula. I believe they are wrong about the issue, but I wouldn't call those people nutjobs.

You and I may still disagree here, but I hope I have made my position clear.
