I have not reviewed the actual ruling from the Administrative Court ordering the Mexican EPA to shut down the mine, and I am not sure I would necessarily understand its implications enough to have an opinion I could hang my hat on even if I had reviewed it, but I did note that the objectors said the ruling was not appealable.

Management said that, no, the ruling could be appealed, operations would continue, etc.

Management has been proven to be substantially less credible than the objectors.

While this is not cooking the books, it is close. They cannot be trusted. Management is either completely inept or dishonest, take your pick.

Adios, NGD.

After reading this article, I'm inclined to believe that NGD may not ever open the Mexican mine which closed a couple days ago:

finance.yahoo.com

I remember somebody -- gregor or gregor.us? -- saying a year ago that they thought that the world would eventually turn against gold miners since the environment is frequently destroyed for something that isn't actually used. That is, a point would be reached in cultures where the environment would be valued higher than the taxes and fees levied on the miners (esp. the open pitters and the leachers).

This seems like one of those situations.

Thing is, a depression changes things. Hunger is a motivator to rape and pillage the environment.

All in all, it gives me pause about NGD... I still have a position at the moment.
