Regarding <"Nobody ever asks for GigE - they wouldn't know what to do with it." > NZ's prime minister Robert Muldoon used to say that he wasn't worried about deficits and neither was the public because they wouldn't know one if they fell over it. Unfortunately, that's true. The public thinks the government has got loads of money in unlimited amounts and can do anything it likes so they are puzzled and annoyed when their favourite freebie programmes are not doled out. They kind of know that it depends on taxes but they know the government owns the printing presses and that Reserve Bank stuff and makes the rules so they really have got as much money as they want. Mugabe in Zimbabwe knew that too and ran the place into the ground. NZ is going the way of Zimbabwe, slowly but surely. Perhaps it will turn around one day and I suppose John Key is trying to do that without frightening the horses so he wins the next election. I have no idea who made up "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it think" [not me - maybe Google knows]. NZers are desperately in love with government-owned businesses and want more of them. All free of course. Free fibre to the home would be great to have. People could download high speed porn both sides of the digital divide. On the good side of the digital divide they'd download and upload other things too. Mqurice PS: Actually, I don't know what GigE is either, though I'm sure Google, or even Bing, Cuil and Yahoo! could help. It looks as though it should be really good. Just for interest, Zenbu went fishing for googlebots, bingbots etc a few days ago and quickly caught a googlebot. They are voracious and fast and cunning. I don't think a slow-moving, bingbot has come by yet. The googlebots have had a feeding frenzy. No wonder Google is top of the search business. But I do have to visit Bing.com daily to enjoy the good photos on their page.
