Yes no joke, 190-year old Cazenove survived everything, including the big depression, WW II, the fall in the 70s and the Big Bang which erased 8 out of 10 then competing firms.

But they found their master - an avalance of cheap dollars from America. The ill fated JV marked the downturn of Caz´ as their highly regarded loyal list of clients turned to other brokers.... that´s it. Local (british) commentary which you wont find in WSJ sneeringly comments on the sellout of the last british investment bank.

JPM paid an obscene price considering Caz´ recent P&L statement. They paid 50x recent profits.

But we know better: they paid in clownbucks, not gold coins.
