Oh thank you SS. I was such a home body and did not like being away from my folks at all. Called home a lot just to hear their voices. I had never lived out of the State of Texas and if I heard of anyone heading Texas way, me and my baby were in the car with them. Thinking back I probably came home at least twelve times in the year we were there. Didn't get to stay but a couple of days each time because our Post Quartermaster who did every one's laundry were always running behind and could never get Richard's clothes done in time as he liked, and those lovely fatigues took priority, so my duties called me back. I could soak up much happiness with my family in those short days and it would carry me until the next trip home. I truly loved being home for good again. My folks were good at making memories and that also is one of my favorite things to do with my children and grandchildren.
