It becomes relevant but it does not become "true" or even very useful, if you are trying to operate in the real world. If you are trying to move people on the basis of fear, or appealing to deeply held prejudices, it works just fine.

Are you trying for some sort of moral equivalency between valid data and propaganda? Sure, they can both be "relevant" culturally, but after you've said that, you can't just stop.
