The unemployment improvement from retiring boomers I think may be off.. considering how many folks took and kept a large portfolio hit in 2008 ... I don't expect the US consumer to come back as I've posted on Dale's thread .. The hope IMO is a low US dollar without cratering... rest of the world gonna have to deal with that... US trade balance to slowly improve... US recovery is going to take years.. Those deflationary forces are huge... and the liquidity pump is not hitting the consumer.. (a good thing IMO) .. so I continue to like yield and infrastructure (broadly defined)... I agree with Dale on looking for opportunities and don't worry too much about the indexes as long as we don't crash :O) strong dollar talk is crash prevention talk... I mean geez... strong dollar yet strong US desire for Yuan revaluation up... writing is on the wall... and a fine line between inflation (dollar dive) and deflation being walked.. I'm rooting for them... otherwise I need a new plan :O) I'm wary of double dip... Looking close to home.. Aecon (ARE.TO) just got another big contract (I sold them over a buck ago to add to GNV.UN :o( and see Aecon all over Toronto) ... but still watching it...I also sold my ARF.UN too early a couple of times now... I traded my STN (thanks to input on Dale's board) for SNC which is working out nicely.. essentially I still like yield and infrastructure despite my forays into the gold and junior gold markets... I do tend still to play riskier issues even in yield like BPT.UN and RSI.UN since I'm still trying to grow my PF faster than maintenance mode :O)

I'm watching the US trade balance for clues on the USD bottoming.. and rates.. treacherous waters..
