When I was a kid my Dad often took me on delivery trips when he sold appliances.

One time we stopped for lunch at a small cafe in Montana. The waitress was complaining about their little fridge, which was one of those that has the coils on top so it looks like there is a cake box on top.

She said it kept things too cold and she couldn't keep bananas in there. Dad told her she should keep that fridge because it would outlast anything on the market at the time. That was before we got the fridge that lasted our family more than fifty years.

Anyway, he said, you shouldn't keep bananas in the fridge.
