Gov. Barbour Refuses To Call Palin "Qualified" To Be President

November 19, 2009 6:00 pm ET
by Matt Finkelstein

Tonight on Hardball, Chris Matthews asked Gov. Haley Barbour (R-MS) whether Sarah Palin is qualified to be president. Apparently flummoxed by the question, Barbour declined to give a direct answer, saying only that "constitutionally, she sure is" qualified. When Matthews pushed Barbour to give a final answer, Barbour said, "I don't know of anything that disqualifies her."

These trendlines are bleak for Crist, and there's little chance of him surviving. Remember, Rubio hasn't spent a dime on media yet. This is all grassroots driven, and the teabaggers are engaged, angry, and looking for the next Scozzafava.

Kos is off the mark on this...Florida is not NY 23...rubio is polling well with the base, but that's easier to do for him than win a campaign statewide...crist will win easily...I do hope rubio makes a good showing

I don't know, Al. Have you seen what Rubio looks like.....he's very telegenic and FLA likes telegenic candidates. Plus, Rubio has a lot of Cuban money behind him.

Having said that, I hope you are right......I'd rather see Crist in the Senate.

But the base is who votes in the Republican primary, no?
