To all: Just when I thought all the bad news was out I hear that S3 is dumping their Sonic Vibes chips in the Asian market. Why might you ask, from what I hear it is not 100% DOS compatable or something like that. Maybe this is why they got so few design wins in the states and a few in Asia. Sounds like they are giving the product away to get rid of the inventory. I am glad to see all the money that is spent in R&D is paying off with great products like these. I also hear that S3 sales people expenses are out of controll, $400 monthly cell phone bills for example. Hey new CFO tighten the screws some huh. The only thing S3 did right was the Fab investment. This info comes from a reliable source, one of their Manufactures Reps. One other RUMOR is that the GX3 is not a high end product. I thought GX3 was high end. From what a am hearing it will be mid range to low end. But the Vortex is suppose to get S3 into the high end graphics market. When does Vortex become available for production. Guppy, anyone, please clarify what GX3 is and when some of these products get released? This is dead money for 6-9 months. Stockroach
