There's no reason we need to spend like THIS:

en.wikipedia.org

Our media fail us, by NEVER presenting this information and making it an issue. It's not that most Americans AGREE with this spending, it's that they have NO IDEA how disproportionate it is.

Americans read that China is boosting it's military spending, as reported widely. Are they told that China would have to spend EIGHT TIMES what it spends now to equal OUR expenditures, and their increased spending isn't even a fraction of that? - NO!

Is it ever pointed out that America is one of the safest countries on Earth from invasion, because it's separated from it's enemies by vast oceans that would require the most ambitious and vulnerable seaborne invasion in world history - NO!

We use our military to jack around in OTHER countries - NOT to defend ourself.

Here's how the rest of the world compares. Not even Israel spends as much.
