Compaq Computer Corp (CPQ)

Late Thursday, UNISYS CORP CEO Larry Weinbach said he was not aware of any plans by COMPAQ COMPUTER CORP to buy
Unisys or any of its assets. In a conference call with reporters, Weinbach was asked about a published report that Compaq might be
interested in Unisys. "If they're coming to buy, it I'm not aware of it," he said. He noted that reports also have suggested Compaq
might be want to acquire DIGITAL EQPMT. CORP or another company. "Their stock is in very good shape right now, but I can't
comment on what their plans are," he said. (Reuters 07:41 PM ET 10/30/97)

Compaq Computer Corp (CPQ)

After market close, COMPAQ COMPUTER CORP CEO Eckhard Pfeiffer said the company had not been affected in any significant
way by the Asian financial crisis, nor did he expect it to be. Pfeiffer also told Reuters that sales overall were strong as the company
entered the holiday shopping season. "(The Asian crisis) doesn't affect us significantly in manufacturing nor from a market point of
view. While Thailand was going through some crisis, we continued selling to 30 other countries," he said. (Reuters 04:12 PM ET
