Actualy, Mish normaly seems to look at things unbiased. However, to declare the overal concept a scam just because a small group of obviously dishonest scientists has (admittedly) manipulated data is not sound research. Scientist can have hidden agendas (for instance anti-peak oil professors that get sponsored by oil companies). Until you factor things in you don't know whether this is a true revealing moment or just a case of scientists that wanted to get funds. Maybe they all do, maybe only these did.

Unfortunately it looks to me that Mish in this case forgot to be unbiased and jumps at the first indication that points in the direction he wants to believe, using a single dishonest group to discredit the work of many others that have not been shown to manipulate their data (innocent until proven guilty).
Don't worry there will be ample discussion in the science community about this and others will have their data checked scrupulously

I only hope that Mish doesn't start to jump at conclusions the same way when he looks at economic issues because I rather see a balanced view taking everything into account. The fact that he normally seems unbiased in economic issues doesn't mean that he is always unbiased in other subjects.

And besides, what is wrong with "lucrative business of global warming was based on faked data"??

I can name a couple of industries (anti-aging cremes, vitamins, some medical treatments) that, based on false promises, try to sell you things you don't need, don't work as expected, or end up in a land fill in no time, all based on fake data.

Business is business, money is made and it doesn't matter for the economy whether I spend it on a car or on solar panels. Take your pick and spend your money how you want.

And if you think the government wasting your money on alternative energy: they just as much waste it on the clunkers program. It's all a matter who lobbies best. But I admit it is much more attractive for people to waste money on cars than on solar panels. Just like chocolate and veggies.
