stones are good. I like to dig up the dirt a few inches deep and get out the growth, then lay down thick plastic, cover that with cravel or such and lay the the stones in it. unless you are going to cement or such between the stone.

I did colored and stamped concrete for my patio. It looks like a cobblestone when all was said and done. Very happy with it.
