it was way back when I was a youngster... '82. and a demonstration at Livermore Labs to prob towards coming to an agreement with Russia re making more nukes. we sat in the road, got arrested for trespassing... off to jail for awhile.

they wanted to jail us for much longer but the numbers of us put them off. (cept I made a guard mad and had to stay longer. ooops)

and each time there were more who came and went to jail.

signs in the street don't go far, in the 60's about the war, or now.

sitting down in a road and going to jail... that makes an impression. maybe not on the public, but on the 'brass'.

but... even in America, jail really ain't much fun. gotta be sure of your intentions.

btw, that was a long way of saying... don't wear outfits and carry signs. sit down in a road. force their hand if ya mean it and get taken to jail. make them show their hand.

now that is easy for me to say. I am retired. (? perhaps?)

'protests' get photo shots and some air time and the big folk ho-hum and carry on. make them take some mothers to jail. make them. they really really get annoyed then and start hem-hawing and considering.

look at the size of those guys in the pic. imagine pictures of huge guys carrying off pint size mothers because they don't like the size of wall street bonuses? but you have to actually break the law, like by sitting down in the middle of a road.

double btw - I hope what I said suggests I am speaking of peaceful so-called disobedience. peaceful. all the way. and if jail comes with it, so be it.
