The only Slot Canyon I've been in (if it could be called a Slot Canyon?) is Hite Marina on Lake Powell. That is near the outflow of the Dirty Devil river and the canyon is quite wide there but it looks a lot like the picture. I've heard stories of people being caught in Slot Canyons when heavy squalls come through and drowning because that is where the water ends up and it just rushes through and fills them up in no time.

They call it "Flash Flood."

I recall reading about 6 people from Denmark being caught in a Slot Canyon in Utah during one such flood but can't find the article.
