he's doing what he thinks is right

I am uncertain of his true motivation but I do believe this statement is correct.

but it is the unpopular thing (your opinion)

Actually, this isn't my opinion at all, it is fact. When he had overwhelming popularity, I said so. But his popularity has dropped as his extremism domestically and his gross incompetence at foreign policy have become apparent to more and more people. A trend I believe will continue.

Unless he totally shifts his goals, as Clinton did, this most popular of presidents-elect is apt to end up a one-termer. The indications are that his State of the Union will give up on wild spending and begin to focus on the deficit, which would imply a radical shift in his agenda. He could still salvage his presidency by coming into alignment with the middle of American thought.

Consider the Holder decision last week. This is one of the most outrageous actions an administration has ever taken, and only the far extremes of the left agrees with it, and not even all of you. If one of these terrorists walks, his presidency is OVER. But there is no way out of this situation that even gives him credibility for a second term, other than to undo the decision, which would be very difficult politically at this point. He's toast.

but he is "weak"

There has never been a weaker president of this country in the eyes of the rest of the world. "Weakness" in foreign policy is not inconsistent thug politics of Chicago or Boss Tweed of Tammany Hall.
