I'm certainly not one who thinks either party is/has done a good job. But I do think the first couple of $T racked up by Obama are not so bad in the context of the crisis of the last year. What he does after that is going to be largely his own fault.

I do agree completely that the USA as a whole, both private & public, lives well beyond its means, and this will change at some point. Not so sure it will be Cataclysmic however.

Churchill's quote about Americans always do the right thing, but only after exhausting all other possibilities has a smidgen of truth in it.
