I'd guess you are too pessimistic. I'd never have guessed under Bush I, that 8 years later Clinton would run a surplus. I'd also never have guessed that a Dem would do it. It would be interesting to know how many economic pundits predicted that one 8 years in advance? Regarding where to move is the other interesting problem. I've lived about 1/3 of my life outside the USA and would like to again live outside the USA (in the tropics) but every time I go looking, I find paradise has significant problems as well.

JQP re need for change After viewing all the players in the games over Health Care and other attempts to get something done by this administration and Congress my major impression was that most of these old tired guys and gals on both sides will be gone in five years. If my assessment of the young is accurate we are about to see a big swing to the left in national politics with almost all new faces by 2016. Change is coming in the way we do business and who is doing the business. I hope we like it! Jim
