Your ancestry and parents have shaped what is best about America. Pinkertons bashed the heads of the workers but ultimately we enjoyed a 40 hour work week. Some people call that a sense of entitlement. Maybe so, but it is easier to believe a 1930's union organizer attacked by hired thugs of a private security firm "died for our economic freedom" than someone going to be maimed for life in a "war for oil". JMO. I joined the military, not out of True Believer fanaticism, but because of economic incentives and because I could not pay for my college education otherwise due to the situation in which I found myself. I have no illusions that people throwing their young brothers, sons, daughters and sisters into various ill-conceived adventures will "protect my freedoms". What's the connection? If we were being invaded, as a middle aged man, I'd defend our borders. Afghanistan? I don't think so, especially when I see what it provided for the Russians.
