I think it's both - with the underlying reasons residing in human nature. We are subject to mood changes and cyclicities. During good times we become exuberant and blow bubbles.... then malaise sets in and we push too far in the negative direction. Somewhere along the way we feel fatigue and want a nanny(state) to take care of us. Oops and downs.

This too shall pass, except that governments do not step back and give up powers easily.


Yeah, let me know when the vote to repeal the stimulus comes up ;)

I do believe the economy will play a huge role in the elections next year if unemployment does start down by then.
