Refiner Valero has decided to permanently shut down a refinery in Deleware, eliminating 550 jobs along with it. So far, refiners like Valero and Tesoro have been idling plants and capacity until the market improves. What's wrong with this picture? Not too long ago you were telling us how the oil companies are gouging us, taking advantage of poor Americans, making too much money. News Flash: Companies that are making that much money don't shut down the very facilities that enable them to do so. I never made that argument.....in fact, I said their profit margins of oil companies were in line. My complaint has been that we are too dependent on oil.....and the fact, that the R congress did not raise cafe standards for over ten years.
