The timing of the NYTimes article is interesting, given that it hits the front pages just as the Obama folk begin to focus on employment issues. Could be Wall Street trying to say no to work on unemployment.

I'm at a loss to understand how the California government can't run with a 1 in 9 dollar surcharge on the majority of financial transactions occurring within the state line. We also have property taxes and income taxes, road use taxes and tolls. There is much fat in government and we should aggressively pursue that before going after the lean meat.
