Tim, don't forget that the more jobs you "created or saved," the more "stimulus" funds you're likely to get.

Classic conflict of interest.

Deciding that the 200k for October is lower than it would have been without the stimulus, and esp. claiming a specific number of jobs "created or saved" requires "reading the tea leaves", or just making something up.

That's what economists do... they make best guesses.

So you assume that we would keep losing 700k jobs a month forever if it wasn't for the stimulus package? That's ridiculous.

When I said that the numbers improved by 500K from Jan to October, I assumed nothing. I quoted actual figures. I could have assumed that the figures from january could have gotten worse...but that would be no more true than the original assertion that the stimulus had no effect, would it?

You can't have it both ways.
