I watched the weekly Q and A last night on CSpan with Judy Skelton interviewed by Brian Lamb. She is a conservative, interesting economist, author and Op Ed writer for the WSJ.

She is also a Russia expert but she could not see any parallels between the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 80s and us with our military spend. She wrote a book in 89 "The Coming Collapse of the Soviet Union" which would be interesting to read.

When Brian brought up the $700Bn military spend greater than the rest of the world combined she did the usual right wing stuff..."it is only 4 to 5% of our GDP"

Never hear any of those right wing types say that Health Care Reform over 10 years, paid for btw vs borrowed from Communist China for much of our military spend, is less than 1% of GDP!
