We shall see is exactly the right attitude. So far I hear quite
a bit of right words, although the right actions are somewhat
lacking. It all starts with words. There will be no resolution,
just slow and painful recovery from drinking way too much,
which can also be derailed by more of the same, unfortunately.
Like a recovery of an alcoholic, who, if he slips back into
drinking, will without doubt get much worse. As the economy
and unemployment get worse, the country could easily slip into
a political regime far worse than it was under W., since
the population has a desire for a "strong leader", who often
turns out to be a dictator. If this Banana
stuff continues and intensifies, then there is no end to a
crisis, it's downhill for the economy all the way. Which is why
this is really the "worst case scenario", as many folks like
Faber and Fleck assert.
