From my point of view, the failure of the Bush administration to get the Taliban to fork over AQ to us was our failure, not really theirs. I'd like to know what "diplomacy" the Bush administration tried. I doubt the Taliban were very internationally aware. They had just had the recent experience of defeating the Soviet empire, to add to their history of defeating empire after empire who invaded their home.
