Cleaning up this mess is a process, not an event, and it will be quite a lengthy process....The truth is, the system rotted to the core, and the Administration simply can't save it. Therein lies the rub: It's not just a regulatory and financial transformation we need, but a social and cultural one. The latter may well be more important than the former, but it cannot take place without leadership and straight talk from the Admin., and so far it is getting Fs on that score, at least from me. My jungle drums tell me Newt may run. I think he is not ideal, but may well be the only man in a position to do what needs to be done because he is not afraid to act radically.
