There was no way to bring in McCain and Graham. They are both unreasonable men and they support industry over mainstreet. We liberals are in no mood to cowtow to industrys bullys.

Where were the Reublican health care plans the last 30 years? They do not want to reform the system. MCcain is worth 100 million and is an elitist. The right wing does not care about the citizenry. The do not care at all.

First, the insurance companies, like wall street and corporate America have taken control of this counry through their lobbyists. They spend hundres of millions a year on propaganda and lobbyists arranging payola via campaign contributions. Insurance companies are cutting a fat hog of 1/3 of the costs off the top. Medicare administrative costs are 4%.

A society has the right to protect its citizens. Think about what society called on its citizens to do during WWII. Even if it means putting docs on a payroll or paying them less through medicare, or give them insurance and pay for medical school in return for service.

The docs will always do just fine.

85% of Canadians like their system and it covers everyone.

That we cannot do as well as every other single western democracy is the true testimonial to our idiocy.

Re Tort Reform

It is a badly needed to help reign in costs of health care. I have a Dr friend that said an OBGYN colleage of his in the US pays liability insurance costs of $800K yearly. This is a tremendous burden that is passed on in the cost of billings.

Texas has proven the benefits of implementing such reform. However Howard Dean said that they have already taken on so many players with the reform, they didnt want to take on the trial lawyers too. (part of their own constituancy). So we wont touch that for now.

Regards

Neil
