Do you know what life was like in the middle ages? The dark ages? Feual lords and miserble peasants. Almost total illiteracy. Debtors prisons and the church burning people at the stake for heresy. Slavery. Caste systems.

Befoe civilization 10,000 years ago we lived in tribes and canniblism was pervasive. After we established civilzation fully 1/3 of many socieities were composed of slaves.

Our consitution was sort of the real major beginning of truely civilzed behavior and it required men like Franklin and Jefferson who knew all the political theories of the day including the magna carta and Plato's republic to outline how civilized people should live.

By laws and reason, not tyranny and myths.
