Penni: Hope you got some more shares at a good price. Thought you'd like to see this if you haven't already: Thursday November 6 8:05 AM EST Company Press Release Helen Of Troy Acquires Worldwide Rights To Market Dr. Scholl's Personal Care Appliances EL PASO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 1997--Helen of Troy Ltd. (NASDAQ, NM: HELE), designer, developer and worldwide marketer of brand-name personal care products, announced today that it has acquired the license from Scholl PLC of the United Kingdom to market Dr. Scholl's personal care appliances in all markets of the world that are not included in the North America license from Schering- Plough Corporation that Helen of Troy acquired through its purchase of Dazey Corp in October 1996. Under the new agreement, Helen of Troy is licensed to sell and distribute all types of Dr. Scholl's foot baths, foot massagers and body massagers, foot rests, callus buffers and comfort items in the United Kingdom, South America, Europe, Asia and all other world markets. Gerald J. Rubin, Helen of Troy's chairman and chief executive officer, noted that Dr. Scholl's is a well-known and highly-respected name in international markets, and that foot baths, foot massagers and other ''comfort products'' traditionally enjoy greater per capita sales in the U.K., Europe and Asia than in North America. ''Based on current worldwide consumer buying patterns, we are optimistic that this new license will be an important contributor to future results,'' Rubin said. ''The Dr. Scholl's products will be integrated into our existing international sales and marketing network, and should also open up new distribution channels for Helen of Troy products with retailers worldwide,'' Rubin concluded. Helen of Troy designs, produces and markets brand-name hair dryers, curling irons, hair setters, women's shavers, brushes, combs, hair accessories, mirrors, artificial fingernails and ''comfort products'' such as foot baths. Helen of Troy products are sold primarily through mass merchandisers, drug chains, warehouse clubs and grocery stores, under the trade names Vidal Sassoon, Revlon, Dazey, Dr. Scholl's, and Richard Caruso. The company also markets products under the Helen of Troy, Hot Tools, Salon Edition and Gallery Series trademarks to beauty salon distributors.
