Happy, The last 10 years have been pretty abysmal for OUR government. We have been run by people who totally bought into the idea of government being incompetent and who supported indescriminate deregulation. So why were we disappointed by the response after Hurricane Katrina? As for governments doing something right, I will point out that India suffered by recession in the early 90's and decided to pour money into advanced education. I think they are now eating the lunches of many Americans. China is a more complex study. But they have moved jobs from America to China. We used to call it "loss of jobs overseas" but now call it "outsourcing". Our government can do something right by regulating the banksters and moving us away from being a corporate welfare state.
